Cam units convert the press’s vertical motion into horizontal or inclined motion of the working element. They are used for side cutting, forming, punching, or other operations that cannot be performed in the press stroke axis.

This is a force-exposed part of the die where structural stiffness, guide length, sliding surface quality, and a correctly defined working angle are decisive. Design mistakes lead to uneven wear, misalignment, and loss of operation accuracy.

A correctly designed cam system must consider specific loading, working stroke, return mechanism, and service access.
