Thread Tapping Units

Tapping units allow thread creation directly during the stamping cycle without a subsequent operation outside the die. This significantly shortens the production process, reduces handling, and eliminates additional workstations.
Modern units operate on a direct-drive principle or via mechanical transmission and are synchronized with the press stroke. Electronically controlled variants allow precise setting of speed, thread depth, and process monitoring.
Typical for automotive applications with high takt time and required thread repeatability (e.g., M4–M12 and larger depending on configuration). Correct sizing based on material, sheet thickness, and thread type (formed vs. cut) is critical.
